Frequently asked questions

The CRA rule sets the deadline on the last day of February of the following year. February 28, 2027 is a Sunday: a return received or postmarked on or before the next business day, Monday, March 1, 2027, is considered on time.

The T4 is filed with the Canada Revenue Agency. The RL-1 is the Quebec slip, filed with Revenu Québec, for employees working in Quebec. Some amounts are treated differently: for example, the CRA guide notes that Revenu Québec considers employer-paid private health plan premiums as pensionable earnings for employees working in Quebec.

Revenu Québec publishes its own filing deadline for RL-1 slips and the RL-1 summary. Confirm it on revenuquebec.ca; we check it with you during the meeting.

Yes. SPI is a Quebec payroll consulting firm and works in English with employers who have staff in Quebec.
